Details ›Wall-Mounted Acrylic Shelves
A wall-mounted acrylic shelf is a clear or colored shelf panel fixed to a wall using visible brackets, L-supports, or clamp mounts. Wall-mounted acrylic shelves are the most common format for retail product displays, bathroom storage, and commercial signage. Wetop manufactures custom acrylic wall shelves in any size, thickness, and color with precision-drilled mounting holes.

Wall-mounted shelves are our highest-volume shelf product. A clear acrylic shelf on a retail wall disappears visually — the products appear to float, and the display doesn't compete with the merchandise. That's something wood, metal, or glass shelves can't do.
We cut acrylic wall shelves from cast PMMA sheet — whether you call it acrylic, plexiglass, or perspex, the material and process are identical. Each shelf is CNC-cut or laser-cut to exact dimensions, edges diamond-polished to optical clarity, and mounting holes precision-drilled to match your bracket hardware.
Three Mounting Methods
Bracket-Mounted
L-shaped metal brackets screwed into the wall. Simplest installation, easiest to reposition.
Clamp-Mounted
Shelf edge gripped by a wall-mounted clamp. No brackets underneath — cleaner, more minimal look.
Through-Bolt
Bolts through shelf into wall anchors with decorative caps. Most secure for heavy loads in 10mm+ acrylic.
Standard Wall-Mounted Shelf Sizes
Our most-ordered configurations — all sizes are fully customizable.
| Configuration | Size (L×D) | Thickness | Mounting | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Small display | 300 × 150mm | 5mm | Bracket | Cosmetics testers, small product displays |
| Standard retail | 600 × 200mm | 6mm | Bracket or clamp | Retail product displays, bathroom shelves |
| Wide display | 900 × 250mm | 8mm | Bracket (2 pairs) | Shoe displays, bookshelf-style retail, electronics |
| Heavy-duty | 600 × 300mm | 10mm | Through-bolt | Electronics, heavy merchandise, hospitality |
| Extra-long | 1200 × 200mm | 10mm | Bracket (3 pairs) | Retail wall systems, library displays |
Popular with: Retail stores · Cosmetics counters · Bathrooms · Office lobbies · Hospitality

Acrylic Floating Shelves
An acrylic floating shelf mounts to the wall with concealed hardware — no visible brackets, clamps, or supports. The shelf appears to hover against the wall. Wetop manufactures custom acrylic floating shelves with pre-routed mounting channels and stainless steel rod hardware included, in clear, frosted, or colored acrylic from 6mm to 12mm thickness.
Floating shelves are the cleanest-looking acrylic wall shelf option. No brackets, no visible hardware — just a clear panel extending from the wall. The visual effect is striking, especially with clear acrylic: products appear to float in mid-air.
The hidden mounting works through a concealed rod or channel system. We rout a slot along the back edge of the shelf — typically 12–15mm deep — that slides over stainless steel rods anchored into the wall. Once the shelf is in place, the rods are invisible.
Minimum 8mm thickness
Thinner acrylic lacks the structural depth for a secure mounting channel.
Stud mounting recommended
Drywall anchors alone limit load capacity to ~2kg per rod.
Hardware included
Pre-routed slot, stainless steel rods, wall anchors, and installation template.

Floating Shelf Load Capacity
Per shelf, evenly distributed load.
| Shelf Size (L×D) | Thickness | Rods | Max Load | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 300 × 150mm | 8mm | 2 | 3kg | Small product displays, bathroom accessories |
| 450 × 200mm | 8mm | 2 | 3kg | Cosmetics displays, hotel amenity shelves |
| 600 × 200mm | 10mm | 2 | 5kg | Retail product displays, gallery displays |
| 900 × 250mm | 12mm | 3 | 7kg | Wide display walls, bookshelf-style installations |
Floating shelves hold less weight than bracket-mounted shelves of the same size. For loads above 5kg per shelf, we recommend bracket-mounted or through-bolt mounting instead.
Popular with: Boutique retail · Hotel rooms · Gallery displays · Residential interiors

Freestanding Shelf Units & Slatwall Shelves
Freestanding acrylic shelf units are multi-tier standalone shelving systems assembled from acrylic panels — no wall mounting required. Slatwall acrylic shelves snap into standard commercial slatwall and gridwall fixture systems. Wetop builds both types in custom sizes, tier counts, and materials.

Freestanding Shelf Units
Multi-tier acrylic shelving assembled from precision-cut panels using solvent bonding or interlocking tabs. 2–6 tiers. Sits on a counter, floor, or table without wall attachment. Popular for trade show product displays, boutique retail floor units, and lobby information displays.
Common configurations: countertop bookshelf-style (3–4 tiers, 300–500mm tall), floor-standing display tower (5–6 tiers, 800–1500mm tall), and rotating display shelf (mounted on a lazy susan base). We also build acrylic bookshelves for retail and hospitality settings. For organizing items with compartments, see our Acrylic Organizers.

Slatwall & Gridwall Shelves
Flat acrylic shelf panels with a rear lip or hook that snaps into standard slatwall (slotted panels) or gridwall (wire mesh) systems. Used extensively in retail stores, pharmacies, and trade show booths. No tools, no drilling, no hardware — slide and snap.
Standard sizes: 250×100mm, 300×150mm, 400×150mm, 600×200mm. Custom sizes for any slatwall pitch.

Choosing the Mount for the Job
Pick the mounting method from what the shelf has to do, not from the catalog photo. Hidden rod mounts give the cleanest look and suit hero-product staging at light loads. Bracket and clamp mounts carry more weight and stay serviceable when store staff reset the fixture. Through-bolt with standoff caps is the choice when the load is heavy enough that visible hardware earns its place. Slatwall and gridwall shelves are the answer when shelf positions move with the season. Send us the load, the wall or fixture substrate, and how often the shelf will move, and we specify the hardware on the quote.
Mount Selection by Merchandising Intent
Load figures reference the tables on this page — the floating shelf load capacity table for hidden rod mounts, and the span × thickness matrix further down for bracket, clamp, and through-bolt.
| Mount | Look | Load tier | Repositioning | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hidden rod (floating) | No visible hardware | Lightest — 3–7kg per shelf by size, 8mm minimum | Effectively permanent | Hero product staging, beauty and jewelry counters, hotel rooms, gallery walls |
| Bracket (L-support) | Visible metal under the shelf | Highest per dollar — gated by the panel, not the bracket | Movable, new holes each time | Retail walls, back-of-house, anywhere visible hardware is accepted |
| Clamp | Minimal — edge grip only | Mid — similar to bracket at shorter spans | Movable, new holes each time | Retail and office displays wanting a cleaner line than an L-bracket |
| Through-bolt + standoff caps | Hardware reads as intentional | Highest — 10mm+ acrylic, heavy merchandise | Permanent | Electronics, boxed goods, permanent architectural installations |
| Slatwall / gridwall | Matches the existing fixture | Light to mid — single shelf per bay | Slide and snap, no tools | Stores that reset planograms seasonally, pharmacies, trade show booths |
The mount decides how the shelf attaches and whether it can move later. It does not rescue an under-spec'd panel — span and thickness are what decide whether the shelf bows. Check both before signing off on a fixture.
Custom Acrylic Shelves, Cut to Size
Every order of custom acrylic shelves is cut to the buyer's exact length, depth, and thickness — there is no fixed size list you have to fit into. Send the dimensions your wall, alcove, or fixture line needs, name your mounting preference (bracket, clamp, through-bolt, hidden rod, or slatwall), and we cut, polish, and drill each shelf to that spec before it ships.
Cut-to-size matters more for shelves than for almost any other acrylic product, because a shelf has to land on existing studs, clear an existing door swing, or align with a fixture run that's already installed. A stock 24-inch panel that's 15 mm too long doesn't just look wrong — it can't be trimmed cleanly on site without wrecking the polished edge. Cutting to your dimensions at the factory, with the mounting holes and routed channels placed for your hardware, is what makes the installed result look intentional. Buyers searching for plexiglass shelves cut to size land on the same production line — it's the identical cast PMMA sheet, cut and polished the same way.
On pricing: our MOQ is 100 pieces per shelf design, and unit price steps down as quantity rises because cutting, polishing, and packaging setup spread across the run. Multi-location programs ordering several shelf sizes in the same material and process can pool those quantities toward better tier pricing — send the full size list and we'll quote it as one program instead of separate small orders.
Custom Acrylic Shelves — Weight Capacity by Thickness
For custom acrylic shelves, thickness determines weight capacity, visual weight, and cost. A shelf that's too thin will sag under load; too thick and you're overpaying for material. The right weight capacity depends on shelf span (unsupported width), depth, and what you're putting on it. The matrix below maps every common thickness (5–12mm) against typical retail and hospitality spans (200–900mm) — use it to pick a starting point, then send us your wall dimensions for a custom recommendation.
Span × Thickness × Load Matrix
| Shelf Span | 5mm | 6mm | 8mm | 10mm | 12mm |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 200mm | 2kg | 3kg | 5kg | 8kg | 12kg |
| 300mm | 1kg | 2kg | 3.5kg | 5kg | 8kg |
| 450mm | — | 1kg | 2kg | 3kg | 5kg |
| 600mm | — | — | 1.5kg | 2.5kg | 4kg |
| 900mm | — | — | — | 1.5kg | 2.5kg |
Load values = maximum evenly distributed weight before visible deflection (>2mm sag). "—" = not recommended at this span. All values assume 200mm shelf depth. Add center bracket support to double effective capacity.
Thickness Recommendations by Use Case
5mm is a good starting point for most shelf applications. The right thickness depends on your span, load, and how you want the shelf to feel visually.
Covers most display shelf applications up to 300mm span. Cosmetics, small retail products, brochure holders. Clean look, lowest cost.
Step up when span exceeds 300mm or loads are moderate. Standard retail acrylic display shelf — slightly more rigid than 5mm.
For wider shelves (450mm+), heavier products, or when you want a more substantial visual weight. Hospitality, bathroom shelves.
Heavy-duty and long-span applications: electronics, boxed goods, permanent installations. Premium look, maximum rigidity.

Acrylic shelves combine the transparency of glass with half the weight and no shatter risk. Compared to wood, acrylic doesn't warp, stain, or block product visibility. For display shelving where products need to be seen — not hidden behind a shelf edge — acrylic is the standard material for retail, hospitality, and commercial applications.

When glass or wood makes sense: Tempered glass works for high-end residential built-ins where weight isn't a concern. Wood suits rustic-themed retail and residential bookshelves. For commercial display shelving — especially where products need visibility, shelves ship in quantity, or the environment involves moisture — acrylic is the practical choice.
For a broader material comparison across all display types, see the acrylic vs glass comparison on our Acrylic Display Stands hub page.
What Affects Acrylic Shelf Pricing?
Custom acrylic shelf pricing depends on acrylic thickness, shelf size, material type, and order quantity. Diamond polishing and cloth polishing are included as standard on all shelves. Mounting hardware is included for wall-mounted and floating shelves. We don't publish fixed prices because every shelf is custom — here's what moves the number.
Acrylic Thickness
The biggest cost driver. A shelf in 10mm uses 2× the material of the same shelf in 5mm. For standard retail display shelves, 6mm is the best balance of cost and performance.
Shelf Size
Length × depth determines material usage. A 600×200mm shelf uses 3× the material of a 300×150mm shelf. Longer shelves also require thicker acrylic.
Edge Finishing
All shelves receive diamond polishing and cloth polishing as standard. Flame polishing is used on specific edges where the product structure requires it — this is determined by shape, not as a cost upgrade.
Order Quantity
Unit cost drops significantly as quantity increases. The biggest price break is between 50 and 200 pieces. Slatwall shelves in high volume (1,000+) are our most cost-effective shelf product.

How much weight can an acrylic shelf hold?
Load capacity depends on thickness, span (unsupported width), and mounting method. A 300mm-wide clear acrylic shelf in 8mm thickness holds up to 5kg evenly distributed. A 500mm-wide shelf at the same thickness holds about 3kg before visible deflection. For heavier loads, step up to 10mm or 12mm — a 300mm span in 12mm acrylic handles 10kg+. Wall-mounted shelves with bracket supports every 300mm can hold significantly more than floating shelves with hidden rod mounts. We verify load requirements for every custom order.
How are acrylic floating shelves mounted?
Acrylic floating shelves use hidden mounting systems — typically stainless steel rods or a concealed metal channel that slides into a routed slot along the back edge of the shelf. The hardware anchors into wall studs or masonry, and the shelf slides over it. From the front, no brackets or supports are visible — the shelf appears to float. We supply the shelf with pre-routed mounting slots and matching hardware. Installation requires a drill, level, and about 15 minutes per shelf.
Can acrylic shelves be used in bathrooms?
Yes. Acrylic is naturally water-resistant, non-porous, and won't rust, warp, or rot — unlike wood or metal shelves. It handles humidity and occasional splashing without any special coating. For bathroom use, we recommend clear or frosted acrylic with diamond-polished edges in 6mm or 8mm thickness. Frosted acrylic hides water spots better than clear. We can also add a slight lip along the front edge to prevent items from sliding off.
How much do custom acrylic shelves cost?
Three main factors drive shelf pricing: acrylic thickness (the biggest cost driver — 10mm uses 2x the material of 5mm), shelf size (length × depth), and order quantity (unit cost drops significantly above 200 pieces). Diamond polishing is included as standard on every shelf. Mounting hardware is included for wall-mounted and floating shelves. Frosted and mirrored acrylic add 10–20% over clear. A 300×150mm clear acrylic wall shelf in 6mm is our most affordable configuration.
What sizes can you make acrylic shelves in?
Any size up to 1200mm long × 400mm deep from a single piece. For longer shelves, we join panels with invisible solvent bonds or add a center support bracket. Standard thicknesses range from 3mm to 15mm. The most popular retail shelf size is 600×200mm in 6mm acrylic — wide enough for product display, deep enough for stability, and thin enough for a clean look. Send us your wall or fixture dimensions and we'll recommend the optimal size.
French cleat, standoff, or hidden rod — which mounting hardware do I pick?
It depends on shelf load, wall type, and the look you want. Hidden rod (floating) gives the cleanest look but caps out around 5–7kg per shelf and needs 8mm+ acrylic with a routed channel — best for retail product displays and hotel amenity shelves. Standoff or bolt-through caps with decorative covers handle heavier loads in 10mm+ acrylic and read as intentional architectural hardware — best for electronics, signage, and permanent installations. French cleat is uncommon on acrylic shelves themselves; we use it more often on the shadow-box and display-case backing. Send us the load, the wall substrate (drywall, stud, masonry, or slatwall), and a reference photo of the look — we'll specify the hardware on the quote.
Can you cut custom shelf sizes and how does that affect lead time?
Every shelf we ship is cut to the buyer's specs — there's no off-the-shelf SKU at Wetop. Custom dimensions don't add lead time; samples ship in 3–5 days and production runs in 15–20 days regardless of whether you order our standard 600×200mm retail shelf or a 1100×280mm custom wall shelf. What does affect lead time: bonded multi-panel assemblies (freestanding shelf units, multi-tier displays) add 2–3 days for solvent-bond cure; UV-printed branding or laser-engraved logos add 1–2 days. We confirm the exact ship date on the sample approval.
Retail store vs residential — does the spec change?
Yes. Retail shelves get more abrasion, faster restocking cycles, and shelf-edge label wear, so we recommend 6mm or 8mm cast acrylic with diamond-polished edges and through-bolt or bracket mounting that can be reseated. Residential and hospitality shelves — bathrooms, hotel rooms, gallery walls — prioritize the floating look, so 8–10mm floating shelves with hidden rod mounts are standard. Frosted finish hides water spots in bathrooms; clear maximizes product visibility in retail. We've shipped both formats across 2,000+ custom projects, so send us the use case and we'll match the spec.
Do acrylic shelves cost less in bulk — say 1,000 or 5,000 pieces?
Yes, and the difference is significant. Cutting, polishing, and packaging setup spread across the run, so unit price steps down at each quantity tier — ask us to quote several tiers (for example 500, 1,000, and 5,000 pieces) in one quotation so you can compare them side by side. Freight per unit also drops at volume: flat-cut shelves pack densely, so the per-piece shipping cost falls as the order grows. Tell us your target quantity range and destination and we'll build the tiers into the quote.
How do I keep an acrylic shelf display from lifting or falling off the store shelf?
Stability comes down to four things: the shelf surface it sits on or sticks to, the contact area of the base, the adhesive or fixing method, and the weight it carries. For adhesive-mounted shelf displays we match the adhesive to the store's shelf substrate and size the contact area to the load, then confirm the fit on a physical sample before bulk production. Send us a photo of the fixture and the weight of the product it holds and we'll spec the fixing method on the quote.
Can you make acrylic shelf dividers with label inserts?
Yes. We build PMMA shelf dividers with top-loading label channels for libraries, pharmacies, and retail shelving — and we can quote them from a photo and dimensions alone. We'll confirm the material thickness, channel width, and label-holder detail, then quote MOQ, tiered unit pricing, lead time, and packaging. If you have an existing divider you want matched, dimensions plus a few photos are enough.
Do you manufacture in-house, or are you a trading company?
In-house. Wetop has owned and run its Shenzhen plant since 2008 — today 5,000 m², ISO 9001 certified, 65+ workers, 2,000+ custom projects. Shelf cutting, edge polishing, slot routing, and inspection all happen on our floor, so when you ask whether a 900mm span will deflect at 8mm, the answer comes from the people who will actually cut it, not from a middleman relaying a message.
Is mounting hardware included, and how do you confirm the shelf will hold my load?
Hardware is included for wall-mounted and floating shelves — brackets, L-supports, or the stainless rod set with the shelf pre-routed to match. Load is confirmed before production, not after: send us the shelf length, depth, and the weight it has to carry, and we specify the thickness against it, then build that spec into the sample you approve. As a starting reference, a 300mm-wide shelf in 8mm clear acrylic holds about 5kg evenly distributed, a 500mm-wide shelf at the same thickness holds roughly 3kg before visible deflection, and 12mm at a 300mm span handles 10kg and up. If the load sits near a limit we move you up a thickness or add a support rather than ship something that bows in the store.
Can acrylic shelves be repositioned later without re-drilling the wall?
It depends on the mount you pick at the quote stage. Slatwall and gridwall shelves slide out and snap back in at a new height with no tools — that's the format we ship for stores that reset planograms seasonally. Bracket and clamp mounts can be moved, but each move means new holes and patching the old ones. Hidden rod floating mounts are the least forgiving: the rods are anchored and the shelf is routed to match, so the position is effectively permanent. If the fixture plan changes more than once a year, say so on the RFQ and we'll steer the spec toward slatwall or bracket rather than floating.
